I don’t know what I was expecting going into this but I left feeling very melancholic even though I don’t think it necessarily had enough substance to move me. It must be the style, the grain, and the clinical voice over that just made me feel like I was taking a peek into a completely different time and still feel so far removed from it. The conversations that 12 year old girls have hasn’t really changed all that much. I hope that Mary Ann was able to move past dumbing herself down because her father believed that women should stay at home. I hope that they just continued to advocate for themselves through the changing political environment they found themselves growing up and continued to have fun!
