Corinna Harfouch has not met a role she isn't absolutely mesmerizing in. The camera work and her performance elevate this far higher than the relatively simple story has any right to be. The film keeps you on the edge with what to expect from Lara. While none of the interactions are groundbreaking, a few do stand out, especially between her mother and a child. These two scenes stand at opposite ends of the show vs. tell philosophy, but they are very effective in their own ways. Even still, I left with a bit of a stale taste about the resolution, which goes exactly the way you wouldn't hope for it to go.
