Payman Maadi, an absolute legend. Navid Mohammadzadeh also an incredible perform. Films like this really cement my belief that Iranian cinema, is truly on a whole other level. Perhaps my bias as an outsider has alot to do with it but my god was this an intense trip. The war on narcotics in modern day Tehran was truly humanized. This is the first time I’ve watched a known and well accepted evil; a drug lord, be humanized. Although, I’m aware that most of it was dramatization. I can’t help but be impressed by it all. The final scenes were particularly strong. The opening scene literally had my jaw on the floor.
