I loved the first half of this movie. The vibes were immaculate and the action was great. The plot and characters were also very compelling for this type of movie. However,
The second half really fails for a few reasons.

1. Some characters make incredibly baffling decisions
2. The action is all worse than what came before. The one good guy who could really do action is just a side character and never fights again in the second half.
3. Shirly kind of sucks in the second half. This movie is an ensemble piece, but she is clearly the closest thing to a “main” protagonist. She is a cop as well as the others, but for some reason she spends the second half just being a damsel and getting her ass kicked. When she wins a fight it’s basically on accident. Bafflingly bad decision.

Still, I’m excited for tiger cage 2, which people tend to like more. The talent is all here and so are the pieces. Still worth a watch, just don’t expect an all timer.
