“Don’t you like stories, How about one that occurs on a train? A guys sitting alone in a first class apartment. Not bad looking, his names Robert Avranche. He seems depressed, as if he’s just lost the woman he loved. Has he? “ this movie feels like a fever dream you have after a breakup.
Alain delon plays a violently depressed man who lost his favorite eater💔. This is a very interesting movie. I get to see Alain delon basically portray me after my breakup. In a surreal absurdist dramedy. It doesn’t help we look alike and he played the role a little too well But this movie is actually very funny. And for some reason Alain delon has more fight and action scenes in this then any other movie I’ve seen from him 🤣. liked how absurd this is and how it’s somewhat surreal towards the end. It starts off fairly normal tho. Definitely enjoyed this a lot and one of my new favorites. It Got a lot more philosophical and existential then I expected. Especially regarding relationships, loneliness and desire. also the cinematography was great I especially loved the color pallete. DONT READ PAST HERE IF U DONT WANT SPOILERS!!!!!!!! I have to talk about the twist bc it’s so well done and honestly my favorite portrayal of the “it was all a dream” ending. And I think the first movie I with that ending I’ve seen it actually be happy. But basically robert imagines his ex wife as an one time fling on the train, that he then becomes obsessed with and she doesn’t want him back and he keeps trying to get at her all while becoming increasingly visibly depressed. During which he meets a wild cast of characters that he has some very interesting encounters with which are very introspective for his character to say the least. But eventually he loses her, and can’t find her. However it was all a dream. And donatienee is actually his ex wife who he was on the way to see, not knowing what to expect he pleasantly found out she would take him back and we finally see his character happy. The dream ending works bc as the movie progresses it really leans heavy into philosophical wacky absurdism that is a sharp contrast to the earlier portions more traditional storytelling.
