You Can’t Run Away From It is a 1956 Technicolor remake of Frank Capra’s timeless 1934 classic, It Happened One Night. It’s a beat for beat remake, and really the only thing they do differently is add in a few musical numbers and of course, color. Despite me being a fan of Jack Lemmon, specifically in The Apartment, his performance is rather subpar, along with his co-star June Allyson, who gave me Rosemary Clooney/Faye Dunaway vibes, but her performance here is not nearly as memorable as the performances those two have had. Which sucks to say, because I wanted to love this film because of how much I adore Capra’s original, but I just couldn’t. This film has no soul. And I now understand why this film is so unknown.
