Odd and trippy, Amore Libero, also known as Free Love, makes for an interesting film debut for Laura Gemser. In the same vein as a lot of films produced by Italian directors as an excuse to travel, Amore Libero sees a man travel to a faraway island to study rocks and minerals on a remote island where he meets a beautiful and mysterious young woman. Its par the course for this kind of film, for the most part, with an exoticization of another place, but this time with a splattering of Christian and pagan imagery. Trippy cuts and overlays make this an interesting experience, but still one that is lacking substance even with the examination of a society detached from capitalistic ideals
