A very paint-by-numbers Korean gangster pic, so much so, I kept thinking I’d seen it; at one point about to turn it off as I was so sure. Alas, I hadn’t and stayed with it.
That being said, I did enjoy it and Jung Woo, who plays Hee-soo is great in the role. His coolness and relaxed demeanour gave the character great screen presence, especially when the character was narrating.
This wouldn’t suffer from being a bit more spread out and half an hour longer. Exploring the relationship with his wife/ partner a bit more; especially Hee-soo bonding with Ah-mi, his step-son.
Ah-mi was vastly underused and is one of the best characters in the film, sadly reduce to a handful of scenes. He does make up for this but you just feel like there was so much more Hee-soo and Ah-mi could have done together.
