I’m not going to deny Django Kill… was a very interesting spaghetti western and the scene at the beginning where The Stranger -our main hero- claws his way out of his own tomb sets a mood that seldom fades away and infects the rest of the film with a sense of unexpectedness. However the reputation that precedes it as a “surreal fantasy”, “quasi-horror italo western”, “shock horror euro-western”, among many other fascinating adjectives fall short when coming up against the actual film. Just to be clear I liked it, it just doesn’t have the elements or the courage to take things as far as people think it does.
