Great to see a director being so frank about the industry and his movie, but the real takeaway is how much this validated my instinctual distaste for Refn.
It’s so funny, not even joking, it’s so uncomfortable because Refn keeps saying that he’s a young Friedkin and asking for advice, it’s really uncomfortable. He’s assuming this sort of weird familial/mentor relationship that Friedkin doesn’t seem to agree with.
