The performances from the actors were amazing. I was a little fishy when I read the synopsis of it being half-animated and half-live, but some of the transitions were on point!

was not a fan of the way this kept going back and forth between clips from the og film and live theater performances. i liked them both separately but… no. </3
just made me want to rewatch the live action little mermaid and i’m gonna do JUST that!

why didn’t they just do the whole thing live instead of the embarrassing back and forth. its was like 85% just the original movie clips.

not sure why they chose to do a live version of the little mermaid this way. so many terrible shots during the live portion. also, they had ariel sing a song after she had lost her voice so that definitely didn’t make any sense.

I don’t fully understand what exactly this was. And I don’t know if I fully enjoyed it. The actors they choose to sing the songs were great. And it was fun. But I spent the last 30 minutes literally just watching the 1989 cartoon. It was confusing.
Let me make it simple. YouTube queen Latifah singing “poor unfortunate souls” and Shaggy singing “kiss the girl” and you’ll be just as well off as watching the entire thing.
