S&Man (also known as Sandman) is a 2006 pseudo-documentary film that examines the underground subculture of horror films. It combines real interviews with indie horror film makers and a scripted plot that does not immediately come into focus until the second half of the film.

nice seeing all my friends but the "hidden" subplot doesn't really work

Honestly a pretty interesting watch if you have any interest or familiarity in extreme horror. ik the bit about the guy who was making the titular s&man series was of course just fiction and could have been more climactic but still an engaging piece woven between the interviews with legit people. Horror is fun and I love it deeply even to the “extreme”ish extents but after watching this and thinking about some of the things said by the real people in this documentary I think we should ban cishet men from the genre😨half joking but I especially just enjoyed this because i really do love discussing the ethics and drive behind making these types of things. and just the voyeuristic appeal of it all. I love to debate it and talk about it but I would rather not with the people interviewed in this documentary. I think I’ve heard enough... Also I really love to see that all us horror fans are the same. we all want to put references in our movies and hope some other nerd gets it. I saw that eraserhead shirt at the beginning (and ik there was another reference I got excited about I forget what though). And I can’t lie. I love when I am the some nerd who understands that reference

Really interesting. I don't think anything like this has ever been done before.
