Surprise Surprise this movie wasn't good.
When I put this on for some reason I thought this was some movie that had come out in the early 2000's at least that's what the concept seemed like. But no this movie is very much from 2020.
Really it's quite the bland dry story you think it would be. Although the pay off and plot threads all seem quite lazy and haphazard. It's like this movie forgets about half the things it sets up and then tries to take care of them all in the last 5 minutes of the film.
But really what I wanna talk about is the queerbaiting this film does. There's at least 2 queer characters that get introduced very early on and it feels like its just trying to appeal to that sort of audience but their story quickly takes a backseat to straight, cis, white, main character interest who is about as interesting as cardboard and who we know almost nothing about other than she ran a failing cafe at one point and is also celibate???
What's the point of including gay/queer people at all and then shoving them to the back, probably just to say 'look at how inclusive we are we have a black lesbian and she's dating a white girl.' but you never get to see them interact except in the last minute before the credits. Yeah the dad is pansexual but you barely see him in the film, him and his boyfriend flirt sometimes but that's about it.
It's just really annoying to include all these queer character for diversity points and it really pisses me off.
Also will not be surprised if the director is/has a foot fetish.
