In hindsight, maybe they should’ve considered making it into 3 parts.
It’s an okay recap, but skipping out on Light’s sister being kidnapped by Melo, and the death of Light’s father really hinders how egotistical Light became towards the end.
I watched a video essay explaining that the reason why Near didn’t work in the anime adaptation was because it never gave us the chance to look into his head for when he deduced that Light is Kira, and somehow this feels worse than that. Near is basically sitting on a goldmine of hypothesises (some sourced by L) that Light has the Death Note, and still somehow takes him this long to do something about it?
Well anyway, at least this experience allowed me to remember how good the OST was (lowkey should’ve kept the original song that played when Light was running away).
I guess I should look into those live action films.
