CONTEXT :
It was 2020 amid quarantine when I first laid my hands on this film. I was a 14-year-old kid who was (and still is) absolutely in love with movies and who was crushed by the fact that Arabic cinema was consumed by the stereotype of goofy Egyptian comedies and the fact that no worldwide film show ever acknowledged good Arabic / African cinema and in a cold night, I went on youtube and typed "Tunisian film".
It's 3 AM, and I'm wearing my red Cheap Beats replica earbuds to not wake my sleeping grandma next to me and I just witnessed cinema in front of my computer screen, I was staggered by the funny humor, the beautiful Wes Anderson-like color palette, and the classic voice-over that I got used to in foreign films. the experience was so refreshing that I kept rewatching it over and over again till my computer's battery went off so I went to sleep, it was at that moment that I knew I could be a filmmaker in Tunisia without making fun of some areas or accents or whatever the TV showed us as comedy at the time. A CLASSIC IN MY EYES!
