I went into this movie with only a little understanding of what it was about. Though I knew it was about colorism, it's rare, at least in the Tamil movie industry (the main Indian movie industry that I watch) for a movie like this to exist without caste being the dominating theme. As much as I love movies like Asuran and Karnan, I think it was a really interesting, and honestly the right choice, to not follow the typical formula for a movie about caste discrimination. It touched on elements like honor killings and restrictions to education that members of lower castes receive without explicitly citing caste as one of the reasons and focusing on colorism instead. To me, this movie was a lot like Pariyerum Perumal except with colorism. 3.5/5.
