Holy hell, what did I just watch? The Girl on the Train has none of the suspense or even the good writing of its source material. Even though the plot is mostly the same, I couldn't stand any of the performances by the cast, especially that of Parineeti Chopra, which was a travesty since she played the main character. The entire film I was just extremely bored and couldn't wait for the credits to roll. I don't know if the 2016 adaptation starring Emily Blunt is any better, but for God's sake, don't make the mistake of watching this.

I’m a huge fan of the book. A moderate fan of the American film so here are my thoughts:

1. The screenplay is a mess. The timeline, chronology is fudgy and can only be explained as bad writing. 

2. Characters from the book are ruined here. Again, due to bad writing. This feels like the adaptation of the American movie rather than the book. 

3. Parineeti Chopra tries. Super hard. And you can visibly see her acting which is bad. 

4. Aditi Rao Hyadri is good but her character- ugh this film messed the character up. 

5. Kriti Kulhari seems so awkward here. Her character is so one dimensional and she tries to save it. 

6. The locations are fantastic though. 

7. The dialogues are way too expository. Like a lot of exposition through dialogues. ‘I feel this’ ‘I see this’ Too much of all that. 

8. The cinematography is fine.

9. This movie is nothing like the book or the American film and that’s bad. The ending is poop. It doesn’t work tbh. Like I know what they’re going for but if it had been done with more nuance, it would have been more shocking.
