This is another one of those where I kept passing the vhs at the video store numerous times despite an interesting cover. Knew absolutely nothing about it except it’s an early film of Roland Emmerich before he moved on to disaster blockbusters and an evil looking ventriloquist dummy was involved.
Aaaand definitely not what I expected! This is Emmerich doing his best to emulate Spielberg and his 80s movies but ends up making a complete fever dream instead! I’m not sure things got explained or explained well at least, they just happened! Pretty sure Emmerich was making things up as they went, maybe even during filming!
And how was he not sued? So many properties show up, from the Bates house to Darth frickin’ Vader!
And no offense to the actress playing the little girl, but learn to emote!
Do I recommend? Well it’s a medium recommendation at least, this does need to be seen to believe!
