9.5/10
One of the finest live-action shows out there with one of the largest scopes of all time. It covers almost every topic that you can think of from how lying affects those around me to mainly the male ego. The story is good but nothing great but through this story comes one of the greatest characters of all time.
Tony Soprano is such an excellent character, how he deconstructs the modern male and shows off the male ego is brilliant. With the amazing plot device that is the therapy we are shown a very explicit showcase of his feelings about everything even if he lies this brings to his character, thanks to this plot device he becomes one of the most fully realised characters of all time. Tony is one of the most dynamic, fully explored and best acted characters out there and he really feels like a real person, which is one of the best things you could do when you write a character, make the character feel real. In all the characters actions should lie a reason and we see all of this which is a sight to behold.
The plot may not be that exciting but the themes and the main character make up for that, thats not to say that the cast is bad, it's one of the biggest and most entertaining casts out there and to add onto that it is one of the funniest shows out there (Paulie is great in this regard). The only thing that brings down the show for me and Tony soprano as a character is that the climax of the show could have been stronger but the ending that we got is still amazing on it's own but I just wanted that little extra to push Tony into a 10/10 character for me.
One of the funniest but also most thought provoking shows out there and everyone that wants to emerse themselves in a detailed world with even more detailed main character should defiently watch this show as it has one of the best characters of all time.
