I am fascinated by this movie, but the studio cut a whole half-hour out of it so now it barely makes a lick of sense. I love the quiet, slow-burn, somber dread that pervades most of the movie. The cast, relying much more of the show's younger cast members, are all very good, particularly David Selby & Kate Jackson. I like how it very much feels Dark Shadows, but without pretty much anything we associate with the show and the other movie outside of actors and very few character names. But the cuts, and my god the cuts are so jarringly obvious it's so painful, just ruin any cohesion in the story. I hope that restoration sees the light of day sooner rather than later. It has some fantastic haunting atmosphere, but with only the tattered remains of a story left. It's sad. This movie just feels sad. And I am fascinated by it.
