The chaotic, frenetic audiovisual landscape of OctoGod is simultaneously empty and dense. The film opens with a sampling of the work process of a graphic designer - a process that involves stealing the photos of other people off of the internet for the purpose of editing - and working himself to fatigue. It is this fatigue which starts the horror of OctoGod, where our unnamed graphic designer is writing in bed, plagued with the worries of freelance work. Demanding clients, overdue balances, constant revisions, delayed payments, etc. The efforts of someone who had put in time into their craft going unnoticed with the weights of society and the pressures of the online space down upon them. As the film progresses in its first-person perspective viewpoint combined with a “the computer screen as camera” presentation gives OctoGod a unique identity as they explore the idea of loss of self through work, whether that work is done honestly or dishonestly
