Endlessly grateful I was presented with the opportunity to experience this.
Films like these, funny enough surprisingly yet introspective— invoke something incredibly personal. I am typically going to be an unconscious hater for films longer than it seems necessary. I let the annoyance subside and watch films out of guilt and retain nothing out of spite. But the runtime of this can only be described as necessary. The melodies and layered soundscapes throughout held my attention. Sick music, along with exaggerated fight scenes, funny quips, THE SUBTITLES(!!) can save a film from what seems like a pre-determined failure: a compliment to the dystopian atmosphere. Definitely worth it to have watched this throughout multiple days, let myself sit with my thoughts and still not even be able to articulate my feelings fully. Though, I can say that Terry Chiu absolutely cements his status as a visionary lo-fi director with this film. All praise is warranted. You'll find yourself oscillating between laughter and melancholy, never quite sure where one begins and the other ends. Talk about handling your angst..
