I don’t have dwarfism but countless reviews of this are from people that do. Upon reading their reviews, I had the same reaction as they did. What should’ve been an opportunity to have positive representation for disabled people instead was turned something sinister and sad. To explore the darkness that people feel when it comes to self-esteem or what we look like is one thing but why must we always make the ones who are “different” out to be the victim? Where is their happy ending? I’d rather seek out media that appreciates and uplifts while simultaneously showing the complexities that come with life.

I wish this was expanded into a whole film. I thought the lead actress was fantastic and the story while obviously very believable didn't leave the viewers with much hope. It's not that I need things to be happily ever after or perfectly packaged, but when there are so few reflections of people with dwarfism in the media, it is hard when one of those rare stories is focused on a particularly awful incident. That's why I would like to see this movie made into a feature because then this could be one part of her story as opposed to the whole film. I still really enjoyed it and thought it was well written, performed, and made, and I did (despite all my griping) appreciate that it allows you to contend with discrimination and hatred that this woman faces.

This was a rough one because I can tell this is an important short and one that will affect a lot of people but it hit me in a very weird way that I can’t explain. I want some time to just think on this one but I still have three more shorts to watch tonight and I kinda don’t feel good but here we go!

I actually really liked this for most of it, but the ending was so vile that it spoiled the whole thing for me.
