Welcome to Sigma Alpha Pi, where the babes love big cucumbers. We're hosting a pretty killer party tonight and would love for you to come. But be warned, this party may live up to it's name a bit TOO much.
Killer Party is a film I've been putting off for the longest time. I decided to watch it today and it's become an instant favourite.
The film is basically 90% teen comedy, 5% slasher and 5% supernatural and it does all three fairly well.
The genre is disparity is helped by the fact that this film has really great and fun characters, even the pervy boys. They're nice to watch because they feel like human beings even though they're all sex addicts in your 80s slashers way.
I love the performance of Joanna Johnson as Jennifer. She has a lot of range and is able to convincingly play Jennifer as both a final girl contender and a villain. Her performance especially shines during the supernatural quarter of the film.
The slasher quarter isn't very good because it's very short-lived and all the kills take place off-screen which means we don't get any gory goodness.
I also wish Jennifer was final girl, even though she was a villain. It would have made me love her character even more. But I'm still pleased with what I got.
This is a really good oddball 80s film. Not heavy on thematics but has great vibes. Would 100% recommend.
