Nick Drake the Vincent van Gogh of music. Troubled thoughts flowed through his art; a special and quiet soul we lost too soon.
Nick Drake’s final studio album, Pink Moon (1972), is a poetic ending. A pink moon often symbolizes new beginnings, rebirth, and renewal. My favorite song from that album is Place to Be. To me, it represents a longing for love (“Oh so weak in this need for you”), but also a comfort in sadness (“Now I’m darker than the deepest sea, just hand me down, give me a place to be”).
Just two years after the album’s release, Nick passed on November 25, 1974, at the age of 26 due to an overdose of antidepressants.
“Life is but a memory
Happened long ago
Theatre full of sadness
For a long forgotten show”
