Okay. So, I had high expectations for this. I enjoy drunken master and iron monkey quite a bit, and this movie seems quite beloved by the Chinese action film freaks I follow. To be clear, there are some incredible effects in this , a few great gags etc. but I don’t know! It didn’t really hit me that hard. I feel like it didn’t get as freaky as something like boxers omen or as fun as the seventh curse, nor did it have the frantic energy of holy flame of the martial world. There was some good and inventive action, but certainly nothing notable! I could see how someone could like this, cause honestly it does a lot of things well! There just is nothing spectacular. Good enough to recommend a watch, and I’m curious about the “sequels” but yeah this wasn’t the banger I was hoping for.
