“There is no such thing as a perfect crime.”
We start off with the murder of Madame Ancelin, a quite interesting start in how it’s crafted and it immediately captures your attention. However afterwards the film becomes more mellow, still interesting but the pacing is quite slow and i suppose that you have to like it. Towards the end it gets tense and satisfying, there’s a sense of extreme fatalism, yet our protagonist (Lino Ventura) is trying to escape it.
Personally I rooted for Lino Ventura, which made the movie extra tense and interesting for me. There are beautiful shots of 1950s nocturnal Paris and… a lot of taxis. A super interesting watch that i enjoyed a lot, especially towards the end. Definitely not everyone’s cup of tea though!
