this was had a terrible camera quality, but i was still thoroughly entertained and the title is so addictive to say.
this is a perfect example of mean-spirited, vintage, grindhouse, proto-slasher. it has a very basic concept of a mentally ill guy killing people and kidnapping a girl. this is just so terrible! i love it. it’s so amateurish, campy, over the top, random.. the acting’s bad and the plot seems nonexistent, but the whacky and just the low production value keep me entertained, plus matthew’s hallucinations are completely bizarre in the best way possible. despite other slashers, this one felt very all over the place, even unpredictable and fever dream like, these people just don’t act like humans, and the plots finale is unexplainable in words… lmao. it’s highly unhinged and contains a high body count and gore for its time, the kills aren’t anything special don’t get me wrong but they’re still good for 1973. the quality of this is very low, it’s terrible on practically every account : direction, acting, cinematography, script, editing. the middle section seems unevenly paced and just drags but has a surprisingly intense score and a love letter to grindhouse trash fans.
