On a second watch, Devara Part 1 lost a lot of the impact it had the first time. What once felt like a massive hero film now just feels like another typical South masala movie. The action sequences didn’t hold up — they dragged and actually slowed the film down instead of pushing it forward.
The story itself feels too familiar. We’ve already seen versions of this in The Lion King, Baahubali, and plenty of others. It honestly didn’t need to go into production unless they were bringing something new.
The only real saving graces here were Prakash Raj and NTR — their performances kept the film alive. Everyone else felt underused or just didn’t fully deliver. Anirudh’s music still hits and is one of the only reasons the film feels like it has weight.
My rating has dropped from a 7/10 to a 5/10. Disappointing on rewatch.
