I hate people who dislike bands because they're 'too loud'. Tool might actually be, not from a biased view, the most talented and impressive metal band, and is easily a top 10 band oat in terms of skill, performance, discography and well just how good it is and sounds. The genius and talent that just leaks out of this band is mesmerising. Maynard is an incredible performer and insane vocalist. Love how he just does whatever he wants on stage, whether it's wearing some crazy weird outfit, doodling around, staring at nothing, or doing his baby shuffle. And then his voice. No auto tune, no post production. His voice is so original in the sense that he doesn't have to fake an accent, or do anything special, he just sings like how he usually would, and that's a gift of a lifetime. Danny is quite literally an octopus. I really can't understand how he does what he does. They're not really shown in the show but the absolutely fucked time signatures he can play, let alone multiple at once, just always impresses me on another level. Adam is just a freak. Doesn't talk, doesn't look up often, just keeps his head down and makes the filthiest, crunchiest riffs (especially especially during this era of tool). He is in my opinion still really underrated for what he does for the band. Forgot who the bassist was at this stage of tool but shout out to Justin cause he's insane too. But yeah in my opinion this is the funnest era of tool and definitely the most overlooked just because it's not as technical as their later work (which is fair enough when you have to be compared to fucking Lateralus and the rest of their catalogue 😭). Definitely gonna be watching more live shows, just sucks that a lot of them aren't on letterboxd 🥲
P.s. I'm not being biased and rating it insanely high because I just like the band (like swiftie tours and stop making sense (no hate to talking heads)), it's just really that good and I really enjoyed the show (which sounds stupid because that's why the others are rated high; but tool deserves it 🤷).
