Nice little feel-good story about redemption and making the best of what you’ve got. Anthony Quinn is charming, Sophia Loren isn’t just a pretty face, and overall it gets you engaged with the melodrama. However, the music choice here is a real error: it’s almost as if the soundtrack is lifted from a B-movie horror. When we’re supposed to be feeling sad because a relationship may break up, we’re subconsciously thinking that on top of that, the creature from the black lagoon is lurking around the corner.
