With a Paul Leni film, you're bound to have absolutely insane camerawork for the silent era and plenty of memorable visuals balanced between the tones of gothic horror and theatrical comedy, and The Last Warning is no exception. While I don't think the murder mystery is as good as The Cat and the Canary, and the film overall certainly doesn't compare to Leni's magnum opus The Man Who Laughs, there's still plenty here to enjoy and I certainly had a fun time, especially as a theatre actor. Such a shame Leni died so young and so soon after this film, I wish there was more.
