Slow but interesting 1970’s Los Angeles private eye time capsule. Cosby plays it mostly straight - no jokes, no mugging - which takes a minute to get used to.

I dunno what the hype is for, I found this pretty generic. I wasn’t into it at all until robert culp ate the bacon from the crime scene. 
I sure wish bill cosby wasn’t a degenerate serial rapist; maybe thats throwing me off. 
I do enjoy enjoy the writing of walter hill, and i do enjoy thugs in white turtleneck sweaters, so there were things i liked. Some of the shots were great... I enjoyed the tone. I just expected more.
