Trishna

if i’m being so honest, the plot definitely got my ass because i did NOT expect all of that! because even though jay showed many red flags, the pretty privilege prevailed i fear.

though how tragic trishna’s story was, i loved seeing a beautifully shot film of a female lead who just wanted more for herself and her family. trishna is so strong and such an amazing character and i honestly did enjoy watching this adaptation (obv all of it but you get what i mean).

kinda mixed feelings about this one, but good: 1. despite the context of their relationship, seeing riz and frieda (two south asian legends) getting steamy was just chef's kiss2. the beautiful hotels3. riz presents the markers of a misogynistic pig pretty well 4. watching riz ahmed getting stabbed (the sheer expression on his face was just... worth it) and also the under the breath "i'll kill you" ... worth it

not so good:1. kinda hard to suspend disbelief that frieda's character is able to speak english so effortlessly. 2. the bombay scenes make her seen abit too well-adjusted and that kinda broke the mirage for me3. felt like the first half was more exciting than the second half.
