2018 is not a perfect movie. It has all the usual tropes of a disaster movie and they overdid it. There are so many cringe-worthy moments throughout the film. And to justify the title ‘Everyone is a hero’, the lead characters were given a redemption arc which was not at all convincing. But having said that the performance of the leads and the crisp editing managed to overcome this issue somehow. Audiography by Vishnu Govind and Production Design by Mohandas deserve special appreciation for creating an immersive experience throughout the movie.
Jude Anthony Joseph along with his team succeeds in making us bawl by telling the story of hope, rather than turning this film into a disaster porn.
