Ichi the Killer: Episode Zero

Still heavily heavily flawed, but if you’re a diehard Ichi fan it’s a must watch cause it’s just an OVA after all. 

I think the big issue with Episode 0 and ESPECIALLY 1-Ichi, which im about to rewatch, these prequels don’t tell us anything new at all. We already knew basically everything that these prequels are telling us. That’s my big issue with these prequels it’s like wow look more Ichi the killer movies thats awesome! And then they just slap you in the face. Why wasn’t there more of a focus on Kakihara? Jijji? even fucking Karen? anybody man literally fucking anybody except Ichi would be interesting to learn more about. Why would you make 2 prequel movies about the one character we know damn near everything about? 

It hurts but I mean shit I can’t lie I do still really like Episode 0. I know i’m shitting on it but I just wish it did more was all. The only really cool thing about Episode 0 is that this is the only time we will ever get anything close to an Ichi the Killer anime. 

A cool novelty overall but like I said unless you’re a diehard Ichi fan, I don’t see how you could like this.

Finally got the DVD today and yeah, I don’t know why I rated this so high the first 2 times I watched it. I still like it a bit because come on it’s a prequel to Ichi the Killer obviously I’m gonna like it a bit but this shit has SOOOOOOOO many issues it’s not even funny.

I still think it’s decent overall but not only is it worse the more I watch it, it’s just not super great movie or OVA or whatever regardless if you like Ichi the Killer or not.

THIS SHIT IS BADASS DUDE I FUCKING LOVE IT. 

Okay so this is so so so so soooo much better than 1-Ichi in terms of being a prequel i fucking love this shit dude (again it could just be the ichi the killer bias i have). This movie shows us so much more than 1-Ichi did and it gave me what i wanted dude, it shows us how Ichi met Jijii that’s what i’ve wanted to know man. This movie is still insanely fucked up as you’d expect from Ichi the Killer, i really love almost everything about this movie man, it’s a great prequel, it’s fucked up, it feels like Ichi the Killer like this is really good. 
Major issues with the movie are two things though, i really do not like at all that the intro is of Ichi killing Kakihara like what the fuck, so if somebody has never heard of Ichi the Killer before and watched this cause they’re curious, they just get to see the final fucking fight of the entire series in the first 3 minutes? that was very very confusing i get like you wanted to hook watchers and get them excited for what they were about to watch but i don’t get it. And the second issue is this shit is very short and the credits last a fucking decade. 
Besides all that this movie is really really good i really enjoyed it and think it’s a fantastic prequel to Ichi the Killer. And whatever you do just please watch this one instead of 1-Ichi i’m telling you.
