Preface: This Review is part of an ongoing series covering the Bootleg “Krishna Cinema” box set by ITV. I found it in a goodwill in Winston Salem for 2 dollars. I say bootleg because the transfers look GOD AWFUL and appear to have been transferred multiple times from different formats. I think some of them were recorded from Indian television? It boasted 24 Bollywood films but has 32 discs. Go figure. I think this was used as supplemental conversion materials for Hare Krishnas in West Virginia? I could be totally wrong, but one of the entires is a play rendition of the Ramayana by white folks in a temple in West Virginia. The boxset itself doesn’t look like it was produced in South Asia AT ALL, so it further confirms my assumptions. For each film I review from this set will be on a list on my page and will have the corresponding tag “bootlegindiancinemaboxset” . Most of these movies are also on an Indian YouTube with better quality and with different audio tracks and edits. The versions of the films included in the boxset seem to have been edited down to some degree and have totally different Audio language tracks from the official release (see Sita’s Wedding) Each Film has a corresponding number on the guide.
Flavor Text from DVD: The events of the epic Ramayana are retold here, extolling the virtues and humility of one of its chief heroes. Hanuman, son of the wind god... English Subtitles by ITV. Color 2.5 hrs.
