I Flunked, But… didn’t captivate me as much as I’d hoped. Maybe it’s because I have a big exam in two days that I’m painfully behind on, and I therefore shouldn’t be spending my time watching films about people flunking their exams.
I digress, it’s a short, simple, and ultimately charming film. But it never truly does anything of note.
It’s been fun to see the early films of Ozu to see how he’s grown as an artist. Continuing on, I’m excited to see how his films evolve and when his films begin to orient towards the profound family dramas that he’s known for.
