sepideh moafi makes any piece of film incredible, but this is a particularly great one. the tension between ambition & dream, and — to put it bluntly — class, money, and survival, is suffocating. reminds me of a conversation i had with virginia once: that, most of the time, only wealthy people will get to be the success stories of the (appropriated) “starving artist” trope.
but, also, bonus points for sepideh being so incredibly hot. srry
