it is kind of sad to see people only approaching this movie from the aspect of it being lesser than the rest of tanovic’s work.
it is supposed to be lighthearted and “flicky” in the sense of showing the spirit of sarajevo to an outsider past the already well known spectre of tragedy of war that is associated with the city and bosnia as a country in general.
it is also supposed to be different from no man’s land - why people live for rehashing dark themes in every piece of media that comes from our region is beyond me.
it deals with a lighter, everyday thematic, it speaks about the “everybody knows everybody” that is characteristic for our city and how that applies to “celebrities” here as well. it shows us as normal people and as existing out of the horrors that our people were subjected to throughout our history - it doesn’t erase it, it’s still a minor part of the plot tied to the backstory of navojec’s character but for once it’s not the main focus and i think that instead of being bitter about it and criticizing this as simply stupid we should enjoy the way it portrays our people and our country in a happier light.
