Ethan Hawke and Laurence Fishburn were great in this and I think the movie was ripe with remake potential. However, almost everything else was mediocre. The supporting cast was annoying, the plot was generic, and the tension was middling. Fishburn seemed to have been typecasted based on earlier work but brought some interesting ideas to the role nonetheless. Somehow not even in the bottom 3 of John Carpenter remakes.
