Despite being due to possible technical constraints, I really like how the film is shot almost like a mockumentary; and yet the director is able to create a pretty good pacing and flow. It moreover really fits the story, which is small in its scope. Just a group of friends going through the universe and talking about their concerns, their ambitions and about their friendships. The director, Rafiki, is a character himself and he blends the real story with the drama in an interesting way.
However, I have to mention the women in the movie. The "main" characters seem to disregard the state of the women in their lives and seem to accept passively the misogynistic rules of their society. One of the characters, Aaron, is interrogated for rape because his girlfriend is 15 which would make him a statutory offender, however, this is not clear in the movie if it's actually true. The other character, Nestor, wants to force his pregnant girlfriend to abort the embryo in danger of her life. Thankfully, there is some pushback from behind the "camera: about how stupid and irresponsible, along with reports from the female students about the sexual extortion they face from their professors. However, the film mostly portrays all of these passively, as aspects part of the environment, and doesn't seem to seek to process or challenge them.
