I love the conceit of this and it looks incredible for what is ostensibly a low budget denazification propaganda film spearheaded by the Soviets. But the script isn't as strong as I'd like it to be, which may be purely due to a 21st century perspective as opposed to what was needed right then and there in that moment. Regardless, I love that something like this exists.

The first “classic” movie I watched where I actually forgot it was “classic”. Great camerawork and message.

Amazing use of the unreal atmosphere of post war Berlin. Great shadow work like most German noirs. My one gripe is probably the end, it seemed a little rushed and forced.

I know the ending of the film was different but was changed to not glorify vigilantism. I would love to see the original ending.
