I’m crying. Phil Elverum’s music has changed me on a stratospheric level. Today I listened again to about five albums by Mount Eerie and The Microphones. And I didn’t just listen to them, I felt them. His music moves me spiritually, and I feel like it has transformed me and helped me grow. Seeing Phil’s everyday life feels so human and sensitive. It’s astonishing how he still carries such a bright light after everything that happened, and also the way he is as a father, a great father, who kept going despite adversity. I loved how this short film felt very Terrence Malick–like and at the same time like it was just another Mount Eerie song. Phil Elverum, I love you very much, and thank you for everything.
P.D. Written while listening to I’ll be in the air and *The Glow, Pt. 2
