Wylers final and quite possibly darkest movie. It seems here that he goes back to something akin to The Best Years of Our Lives, where he tackles a very topical issues in American. This time around with racism he doesn't pull any punches. It's quite dark and doesn't play it as neatly or subtly as some of his other works, but the movie works on its own right. It feels like a but of a strange movie for Wyler to go out on, but it is a very good one
