Director- Kurosawa Kiyoshi. This is the nineteenth work I have seen of his.In a way, this can be considered the spiritual sequel to Kairo (2001), where, instead of the internet, the dread is caused by insecurities, and dance acts as a great vessel for it. This film also deals with modernisation leading one in the wrong direction. This is shown to us with a metallic feel to the music video. This short film is essentially an advertisement for Nogizaka's song, directed by Kurosawa Kiyoshi, and also introduces Aruno Nakanashi. In these regards, this is an excellent work.I am a fan of Nogizaka46's music, and hence I liked the backend look it offers even more. The singers are definitely credible actors as well. The film's themes are of jealousy driven by one's insecurities and learning to deal with having to share the limelight yet again. The film also deals with guilt by the newcomer for taking away from the rest, as well as grief by her senior members due to coming face-to-face with time. They are facing the truth that they are replaceable and soon will be obsolete. This feeling of being disposable leads to the events of the music video. It also deals with isolation, both physically and mentally and shows us the problems faced by a new member joining an already existing, quite successful group.Kurosawa sets up the atmosphere of dread quite well and, in his typical fashion, makes the viewer scared of an entity that doesn't exist. The feel of the series must be quite creepy; it always is. Kurosawa very accurately shows the mental state of the characters, and they also act well enough not to fall behind.Overall, this is another banger by Kurosawa Kiyoshi. With this, I am one step closer to finishing his filmography. I hope he never stops making films.
