It was better than I expected, honestly. It really gives off the vibe of a Liam Neeson style thriller but with Gerard Butler in the lead, and that alone already sets a certain tone. The plot is definitely the main hook. It might be a bit familiar, but I think it works well enough for what the film is going for. Around the halfway point everything starts speeding up and it can feel a little rushed, but for this kind of thriller you still end up wanting to know why everything is happening and how it will all wrap up. The twist is something you can see coming, yet it still lands nicely and keeps the whole thing engaging.
The score does a good job of keeping the tension alive throughout, giving every scene that extra little push. Gerard Butler delivers a surprisingly grounded performance. He feels like a normal guy thrown into a nightmare, and the way he reacts feels pretty close to how most people would handle it, apart from storming a drug lab and taking out half the place while working as a real estate developer which is hilarious but somehow fits the tone of the movie. He carries most of the runtime with a lot of emotional weight and makes the desperation feel believable.
It’s one of those thrillers you watch simply to see what happens next and let yourself get pulled into the tension without overthinking anything. A solid one to throw on when you want something fast, intense, and easy to enjoy.
