I am fully willing to admit that I watched this with nostalgia goggles on. Having grown up with Sailor Moon, the series has made a long-lasting effect on me. To say that my life philosophy is basically a mix of Sailor Moon, Terry Pratchett, and Digimon is only an understatement in that it doesn’t encapsulate all the other media (and more importantly, theory) I have taken in since then. With the new anime, whether or not it would adapt the manga’s final moments was no question for fans of the series and finally being able to see those final chapters play out with Usagi fully growing into her own after all this time was wonderful. The animation was stellar as always and while the messiness of that final arc is never going to be something an adaptation can shake, at the very least the core philosophy of kindness will remain intact.
