What a solid film to end Kenji Misumi’s samurai trilogy… either this or Ken is my favourite in the trilogy, but it’s so hard to choose…
Overall… I loved this film and the trilogy and would love to revisit all 3 films again!

Not a hot take to call this Misumi’s best looking I’m sure Idk I just didn’t connect with this on any level except the visuals But it wasn’t anywhere near like actually bad Just clunky maybe ? Forced ? Ichikawa is amazing as always but otherwise this just feels like standard Misumi Cutting narrative corners and stuff lowk and piecing together whatever he gets at the end That’s how it feels sometimes anyway The look of this thing is worth checking it out for alone tho Rare to see a chanbara feel so natural and grounded I think I’ve never seen skin show up like this before in this kind of story It feels like it’s real like you could really trace peoples faces through the screen and feel any and every texture Not just skin wise like with all the natural beauty on show too The skin things a little weird My bad
