i expected a silly enemies to lovers with srk's dimples and ear stud and then it started to denounce how the media is corrupted by political leaders and how the buzzwords "foreign" and "terrorists" are used by political parties to deviate the attention from the real crime that are committed, adding to this violence against women and lack of support from institutions. and i LIKED it.

the political and societal commentary is NOT subtle at all. literally an accused terrorist (only called that because he killed a political figure) is about to be hanged on television and it is treated like the super bowl, with companies using it in their ads and everything. it was balls to the walls insane.

this movie made me mad, made me cry a little, and laugh. around the 100 minute mark, the tone changes drastically. i will say, the entire dynamic between SRK and juhi chawla is cute but not my fave. definitely one of his most underrated roles. 

though only under 3 hours this took forever to finish 😭 it felt incredibly slow, and that may only be because of the crazy juxtaposition between the segments of “i am the best” with “i am not a terrorist”. that’s all up for interpretation
